Styling and staging interior spaces is an art — one that takes effort and time to achieve. Plenty of trial and error goes on before capturing those moments you scroll through, get excited about, then pin for "someday" soon.
Does seeing these well-crafted spaces ever leave you feeling both inspired and discouraged? There are so many stunning spaces being photographed and shared out there. But in my humble opinion, the most inspiring ones are designed by those who just decided to do it.
They started, slowly and small, and kept at it. Trial and error all the way. Practicing, learning, and striving to bring about the vision in their head. That's what makes their spaces incredible and a special kind of inspo I love and admire. I'm currently obsessed with @angelarosehome, a DIY mama who's honest, funny, and seriously fearless.
I will say that styling someone else's space is very different from styling your own. For me, this perfectionista creeps into my thoughts and stalls my confidence in even starting. And the only thing worse than not starting? Wasting. Time.
Life's too wonderful to waste time waiting to start.
So, friends, you don't need to be a pro or have "an eye" for staging, styling, or design. The secret to styling your space is simply to START. Find a shelf, gather some favourite things, and take a few minutes to dabble. Step back and see how it feels. If it's off, move things around. Let yourself play and feel free to take a break and come back with fresh eyes. It may not come together right away, but as you mix and match, you'll see what speaks to you and what doesn't. And then it will click and you'll know. It'll feel good. You just have to DO it.
