the best WFH decor to support your well-being

Back in 2020, I wrote a timely post about working from home. It was an adjustment for many, and since then, a considerable number of people (including myself) have made the WFH transition permanent.

I still stand by the items I recommended—task lighting, chair, and tray—as being the bare necessities you need to work and/or school from home well. I want to add one other vital element that may seem like a perk but is arguably worth making a priority in your workspace.

natural views

Exposure to nature is known to reduce stress and anxiety, induce positive emotions (calmness, joy, creativity), and improve confidence and concentration. Situating your WFH space near a window will be a game changer for your productivity and, more importantly, your mood, satisfaction, and enjoyment of work.

If a window is not an option, adding a plant, indoor tree, or photo of your favourite nature view is just as impactful and inexpensive. A little greenery can perk up a room like no other home decor, even if you go the faux green route like I love to do in so many spaces.

what decor adds a well-being boost to your WFH space?

As a parent of school-aged kids, September through May is a coveted time to work from home. I could not do it without the incredible humans who teach, mentor, and care for them during these months. And I'm not the only grateful parent.

This past Labour Day, three fellow entrepreneur mamas and I posted a fun IG reel to express our heartfelt appreciation. The response was incredible and my only wish is for more educators and school staff to receive our thanks and praise. You can help by watching our back-to-school collab reel and tagging as many school professionals and volunteers as you know and appreciate!

Always,

jds
